FlexAmp

FlexAmp is an online mp3 Player that adds a social aspect to the music playback experience. As the user listens to the songs, the applications grabs images and videos tagged with the information set in the mp3 file. Currently FlexAmp integrates the following services:

  • Box.net to store user’s songs
  • Flickr images
  • YouTube videos
  • Amazon for artist-info, related-products and user-reviews

For those in a hurry, here are some quick screenshots of the application.

  1. Main interface
  2. Music visualization via Flex Charting Components
  3. Getting deeper into related media
  4. Getting more info via Amazon
  5. Browsing user’s history.

I am still trying to evolve FlexAmp so keep tuned as I roll out new features.

I was wondering if you were planning on sharing the source for this. Its a great idea and I’d like to see how you constructed it. I could donate some money if that would help.

    Kevin,
Thanks for the comment (and the offer ;) ). I am in the process of cleaning up the application. I will start putting elements of the app on my blog, kind of as mini-tutorials.
I have bigger plans for Flexamp so stay tuned.

    Hi,
I like your blog. I have to visit it again.

I\’m liking the color scheme and design of your site. I\’m wanting to start a blog for my download mp3 song site, but I\’m not sure how I want to design it. This gives me some ideas. I\’m so new at this and it is frustrating. And changing the setup or adding certain things to wp blogs can be hard, but I\’ll figure it out.

    Hi there,

I’m just trying to view your flex amp application but I’ve come up with an error in IE

TypeError: Error #1090: XML parser failure: element is malformed.

Maggie, thank you for bringing it to my attention. The error could be because of an unusual character in a songname or albumname. In any event I am hard at work on FlexAmp v2 so do make sure that you check that out.

FlexAmp seems very promising, I think. However there is one feature I directly felt was missing: being able to change the volume.

Other than that it’s really nice, maybe except for the page height. Also, you can’t see the full “Right-click on folders to manage files” text.

Hello.. Great job.. Really if possible you publish part of the source would be nice.. Flex is very new and mostly no one knows how to program it and not many people beleive in it yet.
If you live in Canada … i am ready to offer you a job to work on Music integration projects in Flash / Flex..

Great how you integrated charts with the Media component.

I was also wondering if you were planning to show the source code. I am recently interested in plotting graph representation of a wav form when the music is played. Could you please tell us how did you do?
